Rules & Consequences

Parents/Guardians of Fourth Grade students:

In order to guarantee your child and all the students in our classrooms the learning atmosphere they deserve, we are using the following Discipline Plan. We believe all our students can behave. We will not put up with any student stopping us from teaching or another student from learning.

Students who behave will earn: Improved grades as a result of behaving and paying attention. Teachers will individually reward students with special classroom activities and privileges, positive comments or notes, stickers and a better education.

Students who misbehave will receive discipline marks for the following reasons:

    1. Talking at inappropriate times
    2. Disrespectful to teacher or another students
    3. Not on task. Includes: *not paying attention; *goofing around; *not working, etc.
    4. Not having homework complete and brought with you to class
    5. Not being prepared for class (i.e. all supplies, including books, notebooks, pencils, pens)
    6. Gum or other chewing in class (paper, etc.)
    7. Being tardy, without good explanation or a pass
    8. Not sitting properly in your seat
    9. Bother another student or disrupting class

Consequences

5 marks in one day = loss of recess (lunch)

5 marks in one class period = After School Detention

10 marks in one week = essay writing at lunch recess and call home

15 marks in one week = After School Detention on Tuesday of the next week

20 marks in one week = After School Detention both Tuesday and Thursday

If a student is severely disruptive (Type II Acts of Misconduct in handbook),

he/she will automatically be given a disciplinary referral. A disciplinary referral is an automatic after school detention.

It is very important that we have your support in order to make our Discipline Plan a success. It is also important that we work together to give your child the best education possible. Please communicate with us through notes, phone call, e-mail or conferences if a problem arises. With your help, we are looking forward to a very pleasant and productive year.

Please sign the tear-off and have your child bring it back to school. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to call us, or write in the tear off. Thank you for your help and cooperation.

Sincerely,

 Mrs. Bright

Mrs. Schmidt
